Q: Does North County Home Repair charge a “Trip Charge”?
A: No, but there is a minimum charge of $45 for a service call.
Q: Do I purchase the materials or do you?
A: Materials are either provided by you, or you may opt to have them purchased. Local hardware stores in your area are normally close by. If there is a speciality item you need, please don’t hesitate to ask (we usually know where to find them). Please keep in mind that we reserve the right to bill for the time spent procuring materials.
Q: Materials won’t fit in my car. Can I put them on ‘Will Call’ and have you pick them up for me?
A: Absolutely! Just pick out and purchase your materials, and advise the store that the North County Home Repair Company will be picking them up.
Q: Do you work by the hour, or by the project?
A: Small jobs and repair work requiring 1 – 8 hours are usually done by the hour at $45/hr. Larger projects normally are more cost effective if bid at a project rate. Our labor bid will not change. If additional work is to be done it is done at a reduced hourly rate plus the cost of materials.
Q: Do you do commercial work – i.e. Retail Stores?
A: We enjoy working with retail maintenance management companies who dispatch us for minor repair work, graffiti abatement, etc.
Q: If I provide a list, and show you what I need, do I have to be home while you do the work?
A: Many of our customers feel comfortable leaving us a key or arranging access to their property to make it possible to handle their requests while they are at work.
Q: Why do so many other handymen NOT show up or fail to return my calls?
A: Handyman services sometimes consist of an unemployed guy with a truck and some tools, trying to get by. Many aren’t running an actual business, likely require cash payment only, and do not take the job seriously. It seems like a broken record hearing stories all of the time about ‘no shows’ and lack of responsiveness from these types of handymen.
Q: I have an emergency – can you help me NOW?
A: We do our best to assist in emergency situations. We will re-arrange our schedule to accommodate, if at all possible.
Q: Do you work on weekends (Saturday and/or Sundays)?
A: Although normal business hours are Monday through Friday, availability for weekend service work varies week to week so it is best to plan ahead if you need Saturday or Sunday service.
Q: Do you invoice for services rendered?
A: Yes, we will invoice if (upon completion of service call) payment is not possible in person.
Q: Do you take checks or only cash? How about credit cards?
A: Checks, Cash, Credit Cards and PayPal. Checks are made payable to “North County Home Repair Company.” You can also send a PayPal payment to zachg@northcountyhomerepair.com.
Q: Do you service my town?
A: We serve the following areas: Carlsbad, Del Mar, Encinitas, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Leucadia,
Olivenhain, Escondido, Oceanside, San Marcos, Solana Beach, Vista, and Rancho Santa Fe.
Q: Can you transport 20 foot materials?
A: Yes, we have a truck with a lumber rack suitable for delivering 20’+ materials
Q: How soon can I get an appointment?
A: We work by a schedule which varies. Sometimes same-day service is possible. Typically, we can schedule an appointment for the same week.
